Shear Style

Cozy chic accents stand out for winter and beyond.

When it comes to dressing this winter, there is no single material we saw more throughout the collections than shearling. Whether faux or real, the cozy cool material covered everything from jackets and vests to boots and sandals, bags (both big and small), hats, and even seasonal must-haves like mittens. Max Mara is known for its signature Teddy fabric, a plush faux fur that has been at the helm of the brand for years. This season, it could be found coolly covering monogrammed totes, camera bags, and bucket hats in an ever luxe and sleek fashion. At Tory Burch, we found the plush material on resort-ready slides, whereas at Jimmy Choo it added a textural edge and warmth to a pair of classic black leather boots. J.Crew crafted a sleek and minimal vest that we can imagine worn with wide-leg jeans and a cashmere sweater a la Annie Hall. At Saint Laurent, the Parisian brand took a color-pop approach to the look with a line of handbags crafted of pastel-hued merino shearling and lambskin. Louis Vuitton’s signature Capucines totes and travel-bound belt bags took on an apres-ski look when the brand trimmed these beloved pieces with shearling. It was a similar slope-ready look at Coach as well with outerwear and accessories featuring accents of this lush material. If you choose to hop on the trend and wear shearling and its faux-fur counterparts this season, we suggest searching for designs that are sleek, minimal, and luxuriously modern.
